Need help for a trade show display idea

I will be participating in a trade show here in a couple of weeks and I will be primarily displaying our thermal service.  I am looking for an idea for a display to show people how thermal imagers work and how they can benefit from the service. I am looking for something small enough to set on a table and make it interactive. I will be displaying live images on another monitor for passer-by's to see as well.  I was thinking of something along the lines of guessing which pc of material had water issue's, which cup is hotter, or fluid level, etc.  I would love to hear some ideas of an easy setup that I can use to show how this works. Anyone want to give it a shot?

Maybe try:  heating and cooling of different metals (small cubic samples); showing a hair dryer heating element; mixing epoxies.

I like the old "shell game" where I use three ceramic cups, upside down, with a hot pack hidden under one of them. Or a variation on the theme: find the thermal handprint on the wall or determine which thermal letter is written on the wall. HAVE FUN!! The real value of what you are doing is the get folks to stop and then engage them to talk.

An idea I had, though not yet employed (time!), was to put a heating element behind a product, drywall or the like and to just write out a word, name or phrase.

Sounded, (at least in my limited mind) like a fun idea!

I recently did a show and having a poster behind me in the back of the booth worked well.Folks move fast at a show you need to be able to attract them with something.

I also had a great opportunity as the building was oriented east to west with large south and north roof pitches. I could show the difference in temperature between the two roofs and explain that the outside temperature was the same in both cases but the sunlight was more direct on the south roof. There was also evidence of water leakage which was available. It was my display already existing in the space. It gave the opportunity to show what it could do in real time. It also gave me the opportunity to explain why I don't want image in the middle of the day due to solar loading.

I would also recommend working the show as folks are there and will pass you by unless you try to pull them in.

I am a big fan of the three cups we saw during training. you could bring a hot and cold thermos and three identical cups.

Along the same line as the coffee cups are three cloth napkins; one with a heating pad, one with a ziplock bag full of ice and one with nothing.

A lot less to carry and still effective.........

I set up a booth last year with an overhead projector and big screen with a continuous slide show running an assortment of thermal and digitals of everything imaginably. I found the general public fascinated with moisture rather than temp.  I had a pail of water and a big towel spread out on the floor and would used my fingers to flick a little water onto the towel and then show live with the camera worked great

Thanks for the replies everyone.  I pondered which one to use.  I actually used the same idea I had last time and ran a monitor with live images of people walking in front of the camera setting on a tripod.  It got a lot of attention!  Just wanted to say thanks-

Re: Need help for a trade show display idea

I know this is a little late, one I use is that I built a mock wall with just 2 stud bays, one bay has R-30 fiberglass insulation the other is empty. I sealed both sides and then made a hood off the back and attached a decent hair dryer.  I think just turn on the hair dryer and show people how well it picks up the difference between the insulated and uninsulated stud bays.
