    Video stream recording

Since the new push toward video capture with thermal cameras seems to be MPEG4 streaming over USB, I have to wonder if anyone has any experience recording in this fashion. I was thinking of using a netbook and simple recording software such as camstudio or something similar when I do purchase a camera (Bcam SD, testo 875, or possibly a toughcam EL if I can swing it). Has anyone recorded thermal video in this fashion, and if so, what are your thoughts on it? Was the framerate horrible? Are netbooks up to the task? Portability of the setup is very important to me. I really want something small to record with, but there are not any hardware solutions (other than computer) for decoding and recording USB video streams.

    thanks for your input
