I believe FLIR will soon release he GF309 which is a filtered InSb (midwave) system. Check with FLIR on when it will be released; they may also still have some P25 units available. 

 Mikron also sells the M7604F, a broadband microbolometer that is filtered to 3.9 microns. I concur that the 550, unless the price is extremely attractive and the warranty rock-solid, is probably not a "step forward."

Where are you located?  We do have a demo P25F here in the US that we can sell.  You can get the updated specs on the new GF309 at http://www.goinfrared.com/cameras/Gas-Detection/1136/.  The GF series of cameras have been released worldwide.  Let me know if you have any questions.
