    National Hang Out Day

    Attachment: Think Thermally.jpg

Today is National Hang Out Day—not a bunch of kids on the corner but LAUNDRY! See <<http://www.laundrylist.org/>> for details.

As a nation, we use more than 65 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in our clothes dryers each year. That's a lot of juice! The simple act of hanging clothes to dry on a sunny day is a relatively easy way to make a difference and a great way to practice Thinking Thermally!

It also saves a ton of money, thats a 30 amp plug on your dryer at 230 volts.  One of your biggest loads on the home electrical circuit.  If you want to survey your home breaker panel this is a good place to get some load on the system, all burners and the oven going works well also it you have an electric range.

Vermont recently joined a group of communities that have "Right to Dry" laws, meaning clotheslines cannot be outlawed. For details, see the great website: http://www.laundrylist.org. Little steps like this make a difference, both in terms of "big picture" stuff (i.e. global warming) as well as "smaler picture" stuff like peak loads and energy consumption.
