It also saves a ton of money, thats a 30 amp plug on your dryer at 230 volts.  One of your biggest loads on the home electrical circuit.  If you want to survey your home breaker panel this is a good place to get some load on the system, all burners and the oven going works well also it you have an electric range.

Little steps like this make a difference, both in terms of "big picture" stuff (i.e. global warming) as well as "smaler picture" stuff like peak loads and energy consumption.
